When I first came to Thailand and started feeding stray cats, I thought the only cat food brands available were Whiskers and Me-O.
I mean, they are the standard brands you find in 7-Eleven!
Honestly, it took me about six months to realize you can find an array of cat food in Thailand, from both pet shops and Lazada.
Since then, I’ve tried most of the available cat food in Thailand on my own cats and my rescues and fosters.
So whether you’ve recently relocated to Thailand with your kitty or have just adopted your first Thai cat, you’re probably wondering, ‘What’s the best cat food in Thailand?’
In this article, I share a roundup of my (or rather my cat’s) favorite cat food brands in Thailand to help you find the best nutrition for your furry friend.
Let’s dive in!

What Is The Best Brand Of Cat Food In Thailand?
Cats have different needs based on their age, lifestyle, and health. So there is no one best cat food in Thailand.
What’s more, we all have different budgets for cat food! While some may claim you should only feed a cat the most premium products, I disagree.
Here’s why…
Many of us here have adopted cats or rescued them from the streets. So the truth is, whatever you feed your cat is better than the diet they would have on the street!
That being said, being a cat parent comes with responsibility. And when it comes to cat care, the more we know, the better we can care for our fur babies.
So, I’ve divided this article into categories to help you find which cat food in Thailand best meets your kitty’s needs AND your budget.
Best Cat Food In Thailand For Indoor Cats – Nekko

You might have encountered some cat food specifically for ‘indoor cats.’ This is because indoor and outdoor cats lead different lifestyles, leading to distinct dietary needs.
The main concern with indoor cats is that they don’t get as much exercise as outdoor felines, so they are more prone to weight gain.
For this reason, it can be a good idea to feed adult indoor cats specific ‘indoor’ food that is lower in calories.
You can also opt for the ‘sterilized‘ cat foods, which also contain fewer calories. This is because once cats are sterilized, their activity levels drop, yet their appetites increase.
One good Thai brand for indoor cats is Nekko Love Mix.
While they produce various flavors, they also have a specific indoor formula. Compared to other dry foods, it is high in protein (32%), which helps to prevent muscle loss while managing weight.
It also contains:
- L-Carnitine to help burn fat into energy and manage weight
- Yucca Sidigera Extract to reduce waste odor
Nekko LoveMix is a mid-quality and very affordable option for indoor cats. But if you want to splurge on a higher quality cat food, I recommend Royal Canin Sterilized.
Like Nekko, Royal Canin Sterilized contains L-Carnitine for weight management. It contains 35% protein and just 11% fat.fat.
Best Cat Food In Thailand For Outdoor Cats – Kaniva

Outdoor cats love to hunt and explore, so they tend to be more active than indoor kitties, increasing their calorie expenditure.
So, they typically need higher-calorie food to sustain their energy levels and more protein and fat to support muscle development.
With this in mind, I feed my outdoor cats Kaniva Urinary Care.
There are two main reasons why I use this Thai cat food brand:
1. Promotes Urinary health
If your outdoor cats are anything like mine, they will steal food left out for stray cats.
Not only does this make it impossible to control their diet, but it puts them at risk of urinary problems. This is because high portions of low-quality dry food can cause bladder stones and even kidney disease.
I like Kanvia Urinary Care because it supports your cat’s urinary tract health by keeping urine PH levels between 6.0 and 6.4.
2. Promotes A Healthier Skin and coat
Cats that go outside come into contact with outdoor elements like parasites, fungi, and bacteria, increasing their risk of skin infections.
Kaniva dry food contains added Salmon oil and Evening Primrose Oil. These Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids help protect your cat’s skin and coat and promote wound healing.
Best Wet Cat Food In Thailand – Sheba & Felix

So what about wet cat food?
While some cats can do fine on just dry food (if it is high-quality), in many cases, a mix of wet and dry food is best.
My cats have tried multiple wet cat foods, but Sheba and Felix are their top choices.
While they are both classed as mid-tier cat foods, many people may still argue that they are “junk food” for cats.
But in my opinion, they are a lot better for cats than Whiskers and Me-O. Felix and Sheba generally have a higher meat content and use more pure meat than the cheaper alternatives.
Moreover, premium cat wet food is costly, even in Thailand. And if you have multiple cats, you go through wet food so fast.
So, if you’re looking for a mid-range option, I believe Felix and Sheba are good choices.
Best Cat Food In Thailand For Kittens – Royal Canin

In the first year of their life, kittens grow rapidly.
Because of this, they need specially formulated food to support their high energy levels and developing immune systems.
I have two preferred kitten food brands.
I always feed young and sick kittens Royal Canin Mother & Baby Cat dry and wet food.
Here’s why:
The Mother & Baby Cat wet food has a smooth, mousse texture, ideal for weaning kittens whose teeth are still emerging.
Meanwhile, the Mother & Baby Cat dry food helps to strengthen their vulnerable immune and digestive systems as it:
- Contains antioxidants like vitamin E, vitamin C, taurine, lutein, and beta-carotene. and beta-glucan for immune support
- Has added prebiotics (FOS) help balance bacteria in the gut and promote digestive health
- Contains added DHA to enhance brain and nervous system development.
I feed Kaniva Mother Cat and Kitten dry food to older and healthier kittens. This food contains Colostrum for strong immunity and DHA for brain development.
Kaniva also produces a mousse-type wet kitten food similar to Royal Canin’s, which is a cheaper alternative.
Best Budget Cat Food In Thailand – Pramy

Whether you’re feeding cats in your community or simply need to keep costs low, there are plenty of options.
In fact, I have found one specific Thai brand that is the same price as Whiskers and Me-O yet higher quality—Pramy.
Pramy is a fairly new yet fast-growing cat food brand in Thailand.
Pramy wet food is grain-free and contains no artificial colors, preservatives, or GMO ingredients.
Moreover, there is a wide range of wet food products, such as bone and joint, weight control, and skin and coat, all with unique ingredients for that specific thing.
Pramy also has a large selection of dry food, but I recommend the grain-free variety.
Pramy grain-free is made from real meat and egg and contains over 20 types of superfoods to boost your kitties health.
However, note that the grain-free variety is more expensive than the standard one.
Best Premium Cat Food In Thailand – Orijen

If you’re looking for a holistic cat food brand, check out Orijen.
While it’s not a Thai brand, Orijen is widely available on Lazada and in many pet shops.
Orijen is a protein-rich cat food designed to provide peak nourishment.
As cats are obligate carnivores, Orijen believes cats need a diet rich in protein and fat sourced from various animal ingredients.
That’s why their Original Cat dry food contains 90% animal ingredients, including poultry, organs, and wild-caught fish.
However, this is one of the pricier cat food brands. A 1.8kg bag of Original Cat will set you back about 1000 baht.
Is Cat Food Made In Thailand Good?
You may wonder if Thai cat food brands are as good as US or European brands.
According to Cats.com, pet food production in Thailand is regulated to ensure the safety of the products and ingredients.
It is overseen by the Department of Livestock Development (DLD), similar to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Thailand also has its own Food and Drug Administration, which is recognized by the FDA.
Moreover, Thailand is one of the largest exporters of pet food products in Asia. So many of the cat foods you can buy in other countries come from Thailand.
How Much Does Cat Food Cost In Thailand?
Like in most countries, you can find cat food for every budget in Thailand.
A 1kg bag of dry cat food can cost as little as 100 baht or as much as 1000 baht. Of course, price often reflects quality.
The price of wet cat food in Thailand also differs. One 70-80g pouch of wet food can cost between 15 baht and 40 baht, or more if it’s a prescription food.
Whatever brand you choose, buying cat food in bulk is a good way to save money. I opt for 12 packs of wet food rather than multiple single pouches, and I buy 3kg bags of dry food rather than 1kg.
Conclusion: What’s The Best Cat Food In Thailand?
With so many cat food brands available in Thailand, it’s impossible to choose just one.
Moreover, as I previously said, the best cat food in Thailand depends on your kitty’s age, lifestyle, health, and preferences.
From researching and testing out different cat foods, I’ve found the ones that best suit my cats AND my budget.
Because let’s be honest – while we would all love to give our kitties the best nutrition possible, we have to feed them what we can afford.
So while yes, nutrition is important, as the common saying for babies goes, fed is best!
